Transferring the Journal combines all the best aspects of feeling my age, questioning myself as a narrator, judging the HELL out of my younger self, cringing at my old camera, and painstaking cut and paste and error correction. It's not a lot of fun and arguably quite useless. But I'm working my way through like it's important. Like it's evidence that I've existed and haven't always just been a Catonsville-based suburbanite who runs open mics.
I mean, afterall, tonight I get to be a rockstar, so maybe I'll remember being ME tonight.
Running through old entries, not remembering my mother's surgery, horrified at who I was through my father's death, wishing I was less cringey, but trying to remember - trying to reframe really - that if I don't understand who I was I can't understand who I am, and how far I've come to get here.

| Susan lost Karma this past year. It was shocking and sudden and strange. Here's Karma posing flirtily back in Belleville IL, 14 years ago today. |

Heather jamming with the open mic band at the Shadow Lounge in Pittsburgh, PA, 17 years ago today. There's video from the night and though the audio quality is HORRIBLE, Heather's voice has ALWAYS been amazing.

| Making myself an omelet at Kristen's father's place in Georgia using her brother in law's farm's eggs. Is that right? Kristen's dad's new wife's son would be her brother in law? No. That's not right at all. Whatever that relationship is. 4 years ago today. |

| Gillian and Von outside Wilmington NC, 3 years ago today. Axes. Cake. It was a whole thing. |
 |
| Earlier that morning on the beach in Southport, NC. |
 |
| Wilmington NC. We were playing a coffeehouse on the little main street and apropos of absolutely nothing our show was stormed by a bunch of superheroes. And Space Ghost. Who's arguably not a super hero. 20 years ago today. |
